“Weekly Shonen Jump” indicates possible mandatory breaks

The Japanese publisher Shueisha recently announced that the manga series appearing in the “Weekly Shonen Jump” could pause more often than usual due to the current situation caused by the corona virus.

Shifts may be unavoidable

»To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the magazine› Weekly Shonen Jump ‹is currently asking the manga authors to work in such a way that the risk of infection is minimized. For this reason, the completion of new chapters will take more time. This may make shifts unavoidable, «says a statement on the publisher’s website.

The first row that is affected is “One Piece”. No new chapter will be published in the edition, which will be released in Japan on Monday. Only a few days ago, “One Piece” mangaka Eiichiro Oda commented on the current corona situation and asked the fans for understanding for possible breaks.

The “Weekly Shonen Jump” is home to many well-known works such as “One Piece”, “My Hero Academia”, “Black Clover”, “Demon Slayer”, “Dr. STONE ”and“ The Promised Neverland ”.
